Character: Vittoria De La Cruz
Vittoria Giuliana Andreas or more commonly known as Vittoria De La Cruz was a member of the first generation of the Sternritters during the Quincy Invasion of Soul Society in 998 BAD (Before Aizen’s Defection). Born to a Roman Emperor and a mere dancer and servant to the family, Vittoria was the Emperor’s illegitimate child. The Empress of Rome saw this as treason and believed it to be an act that would disgrace the kingdom which she worked diligently for years to unite with the Roman Empire. As a result, Vittoria and her mother was banished from Rome and forcibly sent north to Spain due to her gypsy-like appearance. Vittoria would only briefly remember her older brother as she barely got the chance to meet him. However, due to the Empress’s actions, Vittoria was unaware of their blood ties as she kept it a secret from the respective family. Even so, Vittoria was touched by her brother’s kindness and warm nature for the brief time they spent together. Humiliated and left to their own, Vittoria’s mother went into a destructive spiral of alcohol and opium consumption, leaving Vittoria struggling to help her mother in their time of need by accepting heavy labor work. Despite the effort she put forth, Vittoria could not get through to her mother as she began to lose the will to do anything but intoxicate. Eventually, her mother would die to a mixture of loneliness and drug overdose.
As the years went by, Vittoria struggled on the streets as a beggar trying to survive through any means she can. The young child resorted to stealing, cheating, lying and all kinds of dirty and savage acts in order to continue living. Through her suffering and hardships, Vittoria eventually found a place she could call home. Vittoria stumbled across a carpentry guild, gaining the attention of the guild master. After measuring up her potential and build from years of heavy lifting, the guild master takes Vittoria in and begins teaching her how to build and craft things. For the next four years, Vittoria polished her craft under the teachings of her fellow guild members, eventually earning the rank of master through natural talent and hard work. During her time at the guild, part of her Quincy heritage began to awaken at a slow but steady pace. It only made itself aware to Vittoria once her life was endangered from being sexually assaulted and almost killed by some of the Elder Guild members. In an act of survival instinct she tore her attackers asunder with only her bare hands as weapons. Through this forced awakening, it called forth the attention of her half-brother Julius Caesar Andreas under the name Julian Anderson and his holy emperor Yhwach. Almost imminently Julian went out to arrive at the guild, meeting her sister for the first time. Perhaps one could testament it to that of fate as the two siblings came together once Julian revealed Vittoria’s origins and their connections to one another.
Trusting Julian’s words, Vittoria accompanied him to meet back up with Yhwach and his companions. As the two traveled, Julian trained Vittoria in the Quincy Arts, teaching her everything he knew. Over time the two would bond as siblings, reestablishing their family trust in one another as the last living symbols of their once great empire. Eventually, Julian and Vittoria found the meeting point as they were greeted by His Majesty and his men. Within his presence, Vittoria felt a strong yet comforting aura that was the signature of the Quincy King. It was as if she were meant to be before him at that place and time. This confirmed her hopes that there was indeed a god watching over her. Vittoria bowed in deference to her new lord, accepting his will and swearing her allegiance to him. Also during this encounter she would come across a young child of similar age and stature named Violette Beauregard. The two were fated to become rivals as Julian could see the clashing nature of their abilities. Under the presence of the other, the two would continue to push one another and evolve in the process. The two girls became close friends over time but retaining their rivalry to a degree. As Vittoria grew as a warrior, she would also be the key to several important inventions in the Wandenreich. Her role as an engineer and blacksmith for the empire lead to the creation of many iconic Quincy tools and works developed by Clara Eisenberg. Vittoria's greatest creation was the Leiden Hant (苦難の手袋 (ライデンハント), Raidenhanto; German for "Suffering Grip", Japanese for "Glove of Suffering") also known widely as the Sanrei Glove. With the aid of the glove, she devised a method to achieve the fabled Quincy: Vollstandig, a technique believed to have fallen out of existence after the defeat of the Quincys in Soul Society. Because of its archaic status, the surviving Quincy tribes developed Letzt Stil in an attempt to grasp the same level of power as Vittoria’s magnus opus. Furthermore, Her skill as a craftsman as well as her prowess as a warrior lead to Kaiser selecting Vittoria as one of his Zwölf Apostel/Apostolische (十二神将(じゅうにしと (German for Twelve Apostles, Japanese for The Twelve Divine Generals) when he established the Sonnenreich.
During their training, Julian quickly discovered Vittoria’s special power as it was a rarity only seen once through his emperor. Vittoria could embed parts of her own soul through her Reishi in order to amplify and strengthen fellow Quincys through her creations. This allowed for the manifestation of Spirit Weapons through the Quincy Cross to be developed by the two siblings. Although different, Yhwach acknowledged and nurtured Vittoria’s special gift, giving her a Schrift befitting of her true nature. Her Holy Schrift was dubbed “B” The Blacksmith (万有 (ザ・スミス), Ji Burakkusumisu, Japanese for All Creation/Universal), a holy power that holds the ability of Absolute Creation via Forging & Heightened Sight/Perception.
